Inter-Religious & Inter-Cultural Dialogue & Mediation
Peace & Reconciliation/Conflict Transformation
Good Governance

The Strength in Diversity Development Centre (SDDC), is an initiative of some faith based organizations in Nigeria, and like-minds whose focus are basically to promote inter-religious and intercultural understanding and collaborations with the vision to strengthen diversities for the entrenchment of religious and cultural Freedom, building bridges of Respect, Tolerance and Acceptance; and Conflict Transformation for national cohesion and prosperity.

The idea started as a project “Strength in Diversity Project” in June 2013 at the end of an International Peace Summit held at the Stafford Convention Centre, Houston Texas, U.S.A ., where a Strategic Action and Implementation Plan, a road map for interfaith collaboration and Religious understanding for peaceful co-existence in Nigeria was evolved.

Hence, faith based organizations that have been working on inter-religious and intercultural dialogue and mediation as well as peace and conflict negotiation and prevention came together with some notable international NGOs, institutions and governments to establish the Centre.

It is opined that for every idea there must be some growing concerns and issues that such idea or concept beckons upon.

Consequently, the spate of inter-religious and communal clashes in Nigeria and other African nations which have claimed millions of lives and properties worth billions of dollars need much to be desired.

Furthermore, the indiscriminate killings of innocent citizens and destructions widely acclaimed to be motivated by religion; as a result of extremism, terrorism and insurgency, coupled with reappraisal attacks in the other parts of the country, exhibited through religious hates, bigots, indiscrimination and neglect need urgent attention. Hence, a critical, proactive and pragmatic approach needed to be sought.
